Sending transcripts to Notion or Google Docs
After a meeting ends, Weave can send its transcript to a place your team already works — a Notion database or a Google Doc. You choose the destination once, in Settings → Transcripts output, and every export from then on goes there.
Two things stay true no matter where a transcript goes. Anonymous is an off-the-record switch for breakout rooms — a breakout with anyone anonymous is never recorded or transcribed, so it simply isn't in the transcript; everything that is in the transcript happened on the record under a real name. And your connection details are saved with your Weave account, used only when you press Export, and never shown back in full once saved.
Notion database
Each export creates one new page in a database you pick, titled after the meeting. Connecting takes about a minute — there are no tokens or IDs to copy.
1. Connect your workspace
- In Settings, under Transcripts output, choose Notion database, then Connect Notion.
- Notion asks which workspace to use and which pages or databases to share with Weave. Pick the workspace your transcripts should live in, and give Weave access to the database (or the page it sits under) you want exports to land in.
- Approve, and Notion sends you straight back to Weave, connected.
2. Pick the destination database
- Back in Settings, choose your database from the Destination database list — it shows every database you shared with Weave. Save, and you're done.
- Don't see your database? Any database with a title column works (every database has one). Open it in Notion, use the ••• menu → Connections to add the Weave integration, then reload Settings.
3. Add date and participant columns (optional)
If your database has a place to record when the meeting happened and who was in it, Weave fills those in automatically alongside the transcript — so you can sort and filter your meetings without any extra typing.
- Date: add a Date property (any name works — a column literally named “Date” wins if you have more than one). Weave sets it to the meeting's start time.
- Participants: add a property whose name includes participant, attendee, or speaker. A multi-select works best — each person becomes their own tag, and any name that isn't already an option is added for you — but a plain text column works too. Weave lists everyone who spoke, using the same names as the transcript.
- These are optional. Skip them and exports still work — they just carry the meeting title and the transcript. Add them later and the next export starts filling them in.
Google Doc
Each export creates a new Google Doc in your own Drive. You connect your Google account once — no keys to download or paste — and Weave can write only the Docs it creates for you.
1. Connect your Google account
- In Settings, under Transcripts output, choose Google Doc, then click Connect Google Drive.
- Google asks you to sign in and approve. Weave requests only the “see, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app” permission — it can't touch anything else in your Drive.
2. Choose a folder (optional)
- Once connected, click Choose folder… and pick where exported transcripts should land. The picker only ever lists your own folders.
- Skip it and Docs land in the top level of your Drive (“My Drive”). You can change the folder, or switch back to the root with Use root, anytime.
Good to know
- Only the meeting's host can export its transcript, and only after the meeting has ended.
- Exporting twice creates a second page or Doc — Weave never overwrites something it sent earlier.
- If an export fails, the message on the transcript page says which side declined — usually a Notion database that hasn't been shared with the Weave integration yet, or a connection that was revoked at the source.
- To stop exporting, switch the destination back to None in Settings, or use Disconnect to revoke Weave's access to your Notion workspace or Google Drive entirely.
